Rationale
At St Paschal Baylon Catholic Primary School we believe that art and design is important in enabling children to gain a broad and well-rounded education and allows them to develop their imagination and creativity. Our bespoke curriculum aims to develop the pupils’ skills year on year, with a particular focus in drawing, painting and sculpture. We value the importance of art and ensure that children leave the school having been immersed in a wide range of inspirational artists. The work of these artists will link to the skills that are practised, then developed into their final pieces. As children progress, they should be able to evaluate their work and others’, developing a more rigorous understanding of art and design. Through our Rights Respecting Schools Award, we champion the right of children to participate in cultural and artistic activities – we want our children to leave our school with a love of art to last a lifetime!
