SEND PARENTS & CARERS COFFEE EVENING

Tuesday 27th October @ 7pm

Has your child been diagnosed with an additional need or disability? Or are you currently on a waiting list or considering the possibility that your child may have additional needs? Come along to our coffee evening, meet other parents and carers, share your experiences and listen to our guest speakers who are there to support and guide you on the journey.

It can be hard being the parent of a child with additional needs, and even harder whilst you’re on that waiting list! There’s a lot to manage, a lot of forms, a lot of behaviours to understand, a lot of worry, sometimes… it just feels a lot.  It can help to have others around you who are going through similar, to know you are not on your own, to know tat there is help and support out there.

Each month we’ll be getting together and meeting up for coffee, for a chat, and we’ll be bringing in guest speakers to support you in supporting your child too.

This month’s guest speaker is Joanne Collins who has experience working in schools and with children who have special educational needs and disabilities.

Joanne will share an overview of reflexology – how it works (microsystem of our body) and explain how this can support Nervous System Regulation.

A lucky volunteer will be treated to a mini hand reflexology as Joanne shares the hand reflexology protocol. Whilst doing so, she will explain how the short, repetitive protocol can be used and any benefits individuals who are suffering with conditions such as sleep disturbances, digestive issues, anxiety & dysregulation may feel.

Joanne will also give an overview of auricular therapy and explain how ear seeds are used.  Anyone attending has an opportunity to try these out (optional).

Questions will also be welcomed throughout the session.  We will also have plenty of time for tea/coffee, biscuits and chat! We have the room until 9pm but there is no obligation to stay until 9 if you need to leave earlier.
