The Equality Act 2010 states that; “schools cannot unlawfully discriminate against pupils because of their sex, race, disability, religion or belief and sexual orientation.”
St Paschal Baylon School is committed to the Equality Act 2010 and to ensuring that every individual is treated with equal respect, dignity and care. All pupils are entitled to a broad and balanced curriculum and to have equal access to all resources, experiences and opportunities in a safe and nurturing environment.
Our Equality Objectives are as follows:
- To ensure parity between the achievement of boys and girls in reading at KS1 and KS2.
- To ensure pupils in vulnerable groups make the same progress as other pupils across the school.
- To ensure that the school environment is as accessible as possible to all pupils, staff, parents and visitors
- To promote an understanding of the rights of every individual through learning about the United Nations Convention for the Rights of the Child and working towards the Rights Respecting Schools Award.
These objectives have been set in 2017 and will be reviewed annually with a view to achievement in three years’ time (2019/20).
